šŸ§‰ Housekeeping: TL;DR: I’ve been talking for a few weeks about a ā€˜100 day devotional discipline challenge’. Here it is. Today, I’m introducing the Hero100, a 100-day heroic incubator. 6 daily disciplines, for 100 days straight. We begin April 1st. 1:1 accountability, live community, gamified financial incentives. Most of my life feels like the picture above…

I won’t make any metaphysical claim as to what the image is trying to represent, but I bet you have a personal idea.

Maybe it’s meeting God. Maybe it’s talking to your Higher Self. Maybe it’s interacting with the Archetypal King energy pattern. Maybe it’s just a personification of Life, Intuition, or the Great Mystery.

That is for you to decide.

When I was younger, it felt like the purpose of my life was to accumulate trophies, accolades, reputation, and possessions in order to ā€œprove myselfā€ to this energy. I had to present my worthiness to it, and justify my life to it. My energy was frantic and desperate. ā€œPlease, oh please, I hope this is good enough! I hope that I am good enough. Look at all these amazing things I’ve done!ā€ It felt like I was on trial – being judged constantly.

As I progressed down my path, my relationship with it matured into one of inspiration. ā€œLook at how great you are, look at all the things I can continue to get better at. How are you so wise, so compassionate, so powerful, so beautiful? Here’s my 15-step plan to become just like you!ā€ It shifted the energy from judgment to aspiration. It unlocked a lot of vital life force and channelled it in a more positive direction.

But both of these shared a common problem: they were entirely self-centred.

Whenever I would be granted an audience with this Great Being—whether in deep meditation, yoga, or medicine ceremonies—I would show up, and I wouldn’t shut the fuck up! I would talk and talk and talk and talk. It was always about me, me, me. I would go, give my presentation, and get back to work.

All of this self-absorbed rambling kept hidden from me one all-powerful Reality: this Being could speak!

If I could only be silent and really listen, it had things to say! This changed everything…

Nowadays, I show up, humble myself as best I can, get very still, and listen closely.

A few weeks ago, halfway through my at-home retreat, I had another meeting with this Great Energy – and it had a single, direct commandment for me:

ā€œYou must ground your devotion in daily discipline.ā€

Oof. Gut punch.

I felt that. Despite decades of study and practice and self-improvement, I still continue to find myself restarting my meditation practice from Day 1. Always on this oscillating hamster wheel of progress: sometimes flawless, sometimes non-existent.

Always starting, but never finishing. Dabbling, but never mastering.

I listened. I decided to figure out how to change this.

And thus, the Hero100 was born.

The Hero100

The Hero100 is named in homage to some of the greatest ultramarathons that exist, like the MOAB240 or the HURT100. There’s something about the unyielding persistence in the ultramarathon community I find deeply inspiring.

Very few people go to those races to win. They go to finish. To test themselves, to know their limits. Few people run the entire way. It is about staying power, something my dabbling disposition is not yet good at.

And so we have here a spiritual ultramarathon…

100 Days. 6 daily disciplines.

I’m packing together some of the most timeless and time-tested spiritual austerities and physical disciplines the world has ever known and doing them for 100 days straight. Cold immersion, fasting, meditation, journaling, minimalism, and your own personal ritual.

And I’d like to do it with you.

I thrive in community, in connection and relationship. We all do. To have an army of warriors beside me gives me energy.

It’s simple: $200 to register, and for each day you complete, we’ll credit you $1 back. If you do all 100 days flawlessly, at the end of it the final cost will only be $100, and you’ll be sent back $100.

I’m really excited about this.

I’m excited personally, for how it will change me, but also because this offering feels pure.

It is simple, but not easy. It is individual, but done collectively. There’s no tricky ā€˜teacher-student’ dynamic. It asks you to bet on yourself, and be rewarded for your performance.

And we packed in a bunch of amazing components:

  • Direct, daily, 1:1 accountability to stay on track.
  • Private online community with several live progress calls.
  • A transformational personal ritual of your own choosing.
  • Gamified financial incentives.

If you’re really interested, just check out the page. It has more information on every aspect of the experience.

This is a group of heroes-in-training, doing the work together, to normalize a greater level of physical and spiritual fitness that lets us show up for ourselves, others, and the world more fully.

My articles normally get around 300-500 views. If even a minority of you joined us on this, we would be planting the seeds of something that could become a movement, in a world that could desperately use more heroic consciousness.

I’ll share some more information over the next few weeks. We begin April 1st.

I hope to see you there.

With love, EB. šŸ’›
