Blood & Ink: No is Life Affirming.

We live in an age of unrecognizable abundance…

It’s easy to forget how strange the times we live in are. The last century of human history brought about the most rapid changes humanity has ever seen.

You can conjure up damn near anything at the click of a button on some magical glowing screen. Coffee from South America, tea from China, fresh fruit from Florida, electronics from Japan—just another Friday morning.

Your quality of life and material abundance is better than every Great King that has ever existed.

Throughout ancient history, life was a matter of saying YES. Of taking the adventure, of building civilization, of creating government. This is how our ancestors affirmed life.

Today’s age might be the epoch of saying no.

Saying no to the deluge of mindless trivialities. Saying no to substandard junk marketed to you as essential. Saying no to degenerate benders and immature interests.

Because with an age of abundance comes constant bombardment. Ads, information, stuff, stuff, stuff.

You drown in abundance. It consumes you, distracting you from the raw purity of life.

Sometimes NO is the most life-affirming thing you can say.

NO I will not lower my standards. NO I will not get distracted. NO I will not compromise my morals. NO I will not settle for this watered-down pre-destined path some nameless faceless government has assigned me. NO you will not tell me what I need, I will discover it myself.

NO. NO. NO.

NO creates the sacred boundary. The sacred boundary creates space. Space invites silence. And in that space, your sacred YES blooms.

You hear your calling, and your conscience, once again.

You remember who you are, and what you are here to do.

You breathe, relax, play, and dance with the mystery.

But it requires space and silence. Things that are becoming increasingly rare.

Sometimes NO is the most life-affirming move you can make. Sometimes it’s not about more, it’s about less, but better.

You are meant for great things.

Say NO to anything that is not Great,
EB.
