savour vs. saving / deep intimacy / the samurai arts
Blood & Ink: Thursday

“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy (or savour) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”

— E.B. White

To savour the world must come first…

Of what use is saving the world if you cannot appreciate it?

The world is not in mortal danger. The Earth will continue for timeless millennia.

It is the heart of humanity that is at stake.

I’ve been dieting Marosa for the past few days. A plant known in shamanic ethnopharmacology for its work on the heart, self-love, and fundamental connection to God and the planet.

Intimacy is a big theme emerging for me, in dreams, thoughts, and visions.

To put it crudely, it’s reopening the Lover archetype in me.

The Lover—in its fullness—plants the seed for the Mystic to grow.

Deep, fundamental, loving connection to Self, Other, and World.

Many of the legendary Warrior cultures I’ve written about were great Stewards of the Arts. This is no coincidence.

The Shaolin Monks of China were the first to domesticate Tea—Camellia Sinensis—and turn it into a ritual and practice known around the world today.

The Samurai cultivated the arts of calligraphy, flower arrangement, and of course, the haiku poem.

Capturing the essence and intimacy of the moment in front of them.

Learn to savour the world. Become intimate. A passionate lover of existence. Let this love rip your heart open, and lead you into battle for the True, Good, and Beautiful.

You must savour the world first,
EB.
