Blood & Ink: Tuesday

You’re busy because your priorities are out of whack…
Everything meaningful is a long-term endeavour.
There is an eternal balancing act between effort and patience. You can tend to the garden and create the best conditions, but you can’t rush fate. Plants need time to grow.
In experiences I’ve run and people I’ve worked with, when people get honest with themselves, their priorities, hopes, and dreams often boil down to 3-4 major categories.
Family. Work. Health. Spirituality. Relationships.
When you’re playing games over decades, on any given day all you need is one clear, effective action. Honestly, to avoid burning out, this is generally all you can ask of yourself.
One clear, effective action.
These actions—whatever they are—rarely take that long.
- One good, present conversation with your intimate partner.
- 2 hours of focused, high-leverage work.
- A core daily practice like meditation, yoga, or prayer.
- 20-minute workout.
Everything meaningful in your life can be done in the hours of 8-12 am each day.
Why then are you so busy?
When overwhelmed, do less. Stop doing anything and everything and give time to your most meaningful priorities.
