Blood & Ink: Tuesday

Your external world is a reflection of your internal world…
An insight that often arises deep in the psychedelic headspace, and a go-to catchphrase of the new-age spiritual community.
The world out there is just a reflection of the world in here.
I agree with this completely. I believe it to be true.
But it has some challenging implications that I don’t think the spiritual community has fully wrestled with…
- If you’re so strong, why is your body weak and out of shape?
- If you’re so abundant, why are you broke?
- If you’re so loving, why all the self-sabotage and criticism?
- If you’re so beautiful, why do you look dishevelled?
Something hasn’t clicked.
I think the natural conclusions are too challenging or frustrating for most of us.
- Maybe I’m not as strong as I believe…
- Maybe I’m not abundant…
- Maybe I’m not acting from a place of love…
- Maybe I don’t value beauty…
- Maybe I’m not as great as I thought…
… YET!
Your external world IS a total reflection of your internal world. If you’re broke, out of shape, isolated, or self-sabotaging, it means you have work to do!
This is cause for celebration, not degradation.
The game is still afoot!
Use your external world as a barometer for internal development. It’s not about specific X, Y, Z accomplishments and attaching too much worth to the externals, but they are great temperature checks to how things are going inside.
The external is a reflection of the internal.
Be honest, and act accordingly,
