Blood & Ink: Thursday

“One of the things we know from the psychotherapeutic literature, every brand of psychotherapy, regardless of its scientific, fundamental, or philosophical orientation, has converged on the idea that voluntary exposure to challenge is curative. To what challenge? To all the challenges of life. So you need to develop a vision of yourself that’s capable of withstanding all the challenges of life.”

— Jordan Peterson, Vision & Destiny

Everything starts and ends with the vision you have of yourself…

This idea is cliche at this point, but things become cliche for good reason.

You MUST see yourself as capable of being the person you desire.

  1. You define a vision of yourself as someone who can do/is X, Y, Z.
  2. You take the actions that align with how this future person acts, in the present.

It’s that simple, and that hard.

You must believe that you can do it before you have the evidence that you have done it.

Growth is nothing other than this.

Act like the person you want to be until those actions become a natural way of being, and you become the person you envisioned.

You are not an imposter if you say “This is who I want to be, I’m not there YET, but I’m working toward it.”

It’s not hypocritical to set a big goal and work hard to become the person who has achieved it.

Humility and discipline will take you far.

With a clear vision and willing effort, it’s only a matter of time.

I believe in you. I believe in you so fully and completely that it would shock you. You can do it.

Create an inspired vision of yourself.

Then act accordingly,
