ethical disobedience / buffered authority / living standards
Blood & Ink: Thursday

“Historically, the most terrible things; war, genocide, and slavery, have resulted not from disobedience, but from obedience.”

– Howard Zinn

J. Krishnamurti said something to this effect, in a less moralizing frame:

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”

The powers that be gaslight you into believing that you are the problem should you stray but one inch from their path.

But a lone dissenter rarely commits the scale of atrocities that are sanctified and supported by the masses.

There is a place for ethical disobedience.

It is an uphill battle, a swim against the stream. But to lose your soul while gaining the world is a Faustian bargain not worth making.

Throughout every Warrior culture, strict adherence to a clear moral code was paramount.

The Bushido of the samurai, Chivalry for the Knights.

This requires a fierce moral code and personal authority. Adopt a strong ethical framework, and have the spine to adhere to it.

Eric Brown.
